Oh, The Irony...

Amazon claims that they are going to remove the listings for the NSP/Benner-pirated Kindle editions of Net Assets and The Anarchists (the authorized editions will still be available). It only took well over a year and multiple DMCA letters to get them to do so. If they do. I'm not actually holding my breath. As for the irony I mentioned...

The Amazon notice arrived at the same time as did a 1099 tax form from Amazon. For royalties. Paid to the Benners for sales before I finally managed to get control of the paperback editions they pirated.

That's right, all you copyright-is-evil-piracy-is-good-and-the-right-of-all-good-socialists/communists-to-the-work-of-others-must-prevail. You tell me piracy is fine because it doesn't deprive the creator of any tangible asset.

I'm getting hit for taxes on the profits earned by the pirates who stole my work and never paid me.

Go fuck yourselves, thieving scum.

P.S.- If any of you were hoping to see me, and maybe get a book signed, at the NHLF reception, I won't be there. Couldn't afford it in the first place (see empty tip jar) and with unexpected taxes on pirates' profit... I'm out of the authoring biz.

  1. I just hit your tip jar. Ain't much, but see, H. Beam Piper is dead, Niven writes too slow, and I've read all the M. Z. Williamson there is. So I'm hopin' you will write more and willing to prime the pump a little.

    1. Thanks, I appreciate it.

Speaking of irony, you do know the story of what happened to Piper?

    2. Yes, I do. Don't do that. --At the time Piper took the early exit, he had checks waiting. If he had held on a little longer or if his agent hadn't been a jerk....

At least you don't have agent worries!

  2. Seems all of this has happened in spite of all the onerous IP "laws" currently in place. Not for lack of same...
